Lake Manze Tented Camp is a luxury tented camp set in open woodland near to the edge of Lake Manze in the heart of the Selous Game Reserve.
Each of its 12 tents has twin or double beds and their own en-suite facilities which are open to the stars. Each tent also has a large veranda on which to sit, relax and enjoy the view. There is no electricity in Lake Manze Tented Camp and lighting is by candles and kerosene lamps, which give it an intimate romantic feel and ensures a ‘back to nature’ experience.
There is a large airy high roofed bar/lounge/dining area where people can meet up in the evening and exchange stories of their days’ game viewing. The evening meal is usually served outside under the pristine night sky.
Boat trips on Lake Manze are a must to get the best view of the spectacular African sunsets and to see the varied bird life on and around Lake Manze. Half and full day game drives are also on offer in open sided 4x4 safari vehicles and can be tailor-made to guests' needs, as well as guided walks in the vicinity of the camp.
12 double tents with en-suite bathrooms.
Children under 6 not encouraged. Reduced rate for children 7-16, sharing with an adult.
Closed April & May
Reserve fees + Conservation fees: $75 per person per day. Bar bills and laundry extra.
Power supplied by generator. There is mobile phone reception, and email facilities may be made available in case of emergency.
Fishing in the lake is possible at additional cost ($15 per person per day); catch and release basis preferred. Walking safaris are not available for children under 16 years old.
Being situated on an elephant walk-through route, staying in the camp requires a certain amount of caution (Maasai guides will escort you back to your tent at night), but also provides a tremendous 'wildlife' feel to the camp.
