Vuma Hills Tented Camp has an unusual position set on a wooded hillside overlooking the plains in the distance and just a short drive from Mikumi National Park.
There are 16 large tents all positioned to enjoy the glorious views from their makuti roofed verandas. Each tent is decorated in colonial style and has a double and a single bed and en-suite facilities.
The outdoor bar area offers a welcoming campfire in the evening where you can discuss and compare the day’s sightings with other guests, while having a leisurely drink before dinner. The spacious dining area allows individual dining with mainly buffet meals. There is a small swimming pool where you can relax and unwind after your morning’s game drive.
Full and half day game drives are offered at Vuma Hills Tented Camp in comfortable safari vehicles and, although the camp is outside Mikumi National Park, the amount of game to be seen on the plains of Mikumi National Park is worth the short drive to get there.
This is a good value for money camp which is happy to cater for groups. It offers peace and simplicity together with excellent game viewing close at hand.
Slightly on the large side, but very friendly, and only a short drive from the Mikumi Park itself. Sited, as it is, on a steep hillside, excellent views are provided of the savannnah below, but you will also need your climbing legs.
Sitting in the restaurant in the evening listening to the bush babies calling in the trees nearby and trying to spot them as they leapt from branch to branch.
You are definitely not "roughing it" when you stay at Vuma Hills' Tented Safari Camp.
I am not one for camping and this is really the way to do it. Beautiful tents with a nice little verandah overlooking the plains. This is great for sitting with a book and a glass of wine.
The pool was especially appreciated after a day out game viewing.
