Tandala Tented Camp represents the growing sector of Community Tourism in Tanzania, focusing on enabling the local people to benefit from such tourism, in addition to enabling guests to very much interact with the local community.
The accommodation comprises ten spacious tents, built on an elevated platform, and offering a mixture of twin and double bed accommodation. An en-suite bathroom and a spacious veranda completes the picture.
The swimming pool is ideally located beneath giant baobab tree, and the well-stocked bar provides the ideal venue from which to enjoy a sundowner or two.
During June to December an early morning walking safari is offered. Bird viewing is also best undertaken at this time. Game drives (in an open sided vehicle) are, of course, also on offer, together with a visit to a local Maasai village.
10 tents on raised platforms.
Discounted rates for children 5-11 years old, sharing (0 to 4 year old children are completely free).
Closed during May.
Unusually, Park fees are included. Bar drinks are extra.
Electricity supplied by generator. Water heating, and lighting, by solar power. Free satellite internet usage if required.
Tandala is significantly cheaper than most other lodges in Ruaha, yet offers a similar range of facilities, hence representing excellent value for money.
In particular its focus on eco-tourism makes this a project very well worth supporting.
